Privacy policy

Effective October 18, 2026.

This policy covers the AnnoPotato app for macOS and this website, annopotato.com.

The app

It has no network access

AnnoPotato runs in the macOS App Sandbox without the network permission. macOS blocks it from opening any network connection.

The app contains no networking code of its own.

No analytics, no tracking, no accounts

The app contains no analytics.

It contains no crash reporter of its own.

It contains no advertising and does no tracking.

There is no account to create or sign in to.

Images of your screen

To let you draw over your screen, AnnoPotato takes a still image of it. macOS asks for Screen Recording permission the first time.

That image is processed only on your Mac.

It is never sent over the network.

Blank pages work without Screen Recording permission.

In Presentation Mode, AnnoPotato takes pictures of the slides you present, so you can draw on them. Those pictures stay in the app's storage on your Mac. They are deleted after a period you can choose: 24 hours, 48 hours, 7 days, 31 days, or never. The default is 7 days. You can also delete them yourself with Clear Temporary Files.

Handwriting and text recognition

AnnoPotato reads handwritten abbreviations, and finds text in screen images, with Apple's Vision framework.

Vision runs on your Mac. Your handwriting and screen images are not sent anywhere for recognition.

What is stored on your Mac

The app keeps its files in its own sandbox container, inside ~/Library/Containers/com.101labs.annopotato/. That includes:

The app also keeps one item in your Mac's keychain. It holds the date the app first ran and the app's license status. It holds no personal information.

When you save or export a page, it goes where you choose. Nothing leaves your Mac unless you move it yourself.

What Apple handles

The app asks macOS whether this copy came from the App Store. macOS and Apple handle that check. The app receives no personal information from it.

If you turned on sharing with app developers in macOS, Apple may send us crash reports. macOS controls that setting, not AnnoPotato.

If you test a beta build through Apple's TestFlight, Apple may share some details with us. These can include your name and email address, if we invited you by email, and any feedback or crash reports you choose to send. Apple's privacy policy covers TestFlight.
